Memorial Day Weekend 2010

Ready for Hollywood!

We had the best time Sunday morning. She was just giggling and blowing bubbles. She has discovered her tongue and loves to stick it out. haha.

Trying to talk!

Happy happy baby!

Kaitlin and I spent a nice, relaxing weekend in Huntington. We got to spend some time with good friends and enjoyed my parent's pool! I can't wait to get Kaitlin in the pool. Its a little too cold for her right now, but she loves the bath so much I know she is going to love it. It was so nice to have a three day weekend. As always, it went way too fast!

10 weeks.

Grandaddy's little sweetpea.

Kaitlin is doing great-just as sweet as can be! Every week she changes. Her hair has lightened and seems to have a little red tint to it. We think it might end up being a pretty auburn color. She has long pretty eyelashes and her eyes are a beautiful blue. They have also lightened. The pediatrician says that babies eyes can change colors up to 6 months and that he has even seen them change as late as 9 months...so we will see!

Kaitlin's Christening- May 23, 2010

Kaitlin was baptized this past Sunday at the Church I grew up in Huntington, Trinity Episcopal Church. She wore the same gown that I wore at my Christening, so it was very special for me. She was the perfect angel during the service. In the Episcopal Church it is tradition to have two sets of God parents. We are very blessed that our good friends Natalie and Josh Justice and Courtney and Aaron Arnold agreed to be the Godparents to Kaitlin. Courtney and I have been best friends since kindergarten and I could not think of anyone to be a better second mom to my daughter. She has always been there for me and is truly one of the best people I know. She also married a wonderful man and I am happy their son Brooks and Kaitlin will get to grow up together. Through Courtney I met Natalie and we were pretty much inseparable. She and Josh are part of my family and I know that no matter how far apart we live they will always be a huge part of mine and Kaitlin's life. They are amazing people and I miss them everyday.

Natalie and Josh traveled from DC to be with her on her special day.

Courtney and Aaron with their Goddaughter.

Proud parents.
So sweet and innocent.

2 month check up.

Kaitlin had her 2 month check up yesterday and I am happy to say that she might end up tall like me after all! :) She grew 2.5 inches in one month! She is now 23.5 inches and is in the 90th percentile for height. She weighs 12.7 lbs. She is very healthy!!! And so well behaved. No one can believe what a good baby she is~I'm so proud. I am also happy to say that she is sleeping through the night most nights. She likes to stay up late, but once she does fall asleep she is usually asleep for 6-7 hours. AND she is rolling! She is so strong. She can roll from her side to her back and from her side to her stomach. Pretty soon she will be doing full rolls! And surprisingly she likes when BJ and I sing to her...the 2 most tone deaf people alive!

Newborn Photo Shoot

Our wonderful wedding photographer (Melissa Perella) took pictures of Kaitlin when she was a month old. Ideally newborn pics should be done earlier, but I wasn't quite feeling up to it before then. She was such a good little model. It was supposed to be a father's day surprise for B.J. but I am a horrible liar and I had to use one of the pics for the birth announcements. I love the photos!!

Cousin Abby.

BJ's Aunt and little cousin were in town this weekend and met Kaitlin for the first time. Abby will be 5 in July and is such a sweet/cute little girl. She really liked the baby and kept asking if the baby wanted cake or cereal. Kaitlin looks so much like Abby. We looked through Abby's baby pictures and they could almost be twins. She was also born with a headfull of black hair!

2 Months old!!

Happy little girl.

Daddy loves his little baby.

Bath time is the best!

Kisses for my sweetpea.

Kaitlin turned 2 months old this past Friday. It is amazing how much she has changed. She is growing so fast. She is very alert and wide eyed. She loves colors, music, and the sound of our voices. I love to watch her take everything in. I am not just saying this because she is my baby, but she really is a good baby. She only cries when she is hungry. I hope she keeps it up! She also LOVES to get her diaper changed. It is so funny because she starts smiling as soon as you lay her down. When she coos it sounds like she is saying "hi." Its so cute. I'm in heaven!

Mother's Day 2010

All dressed up for Mother's Day!
Pretty flowers sent to work.
One of the gifts from Kaitlin and Daddy.
Smiling @ brunch...she is so well behaved.
Getting ready to go to brunch.
Daddy's girl.

I had a wonderful first Mother's Day. BJ (and Kaitlin) had a lot of surprises for me and I really enjoyed the whole weekend. It was nice to relax and be with my little family. My parents are out of town so I didn't get to see my mom on Mother's day, but I have a whole new appreciation for her now that I am a mom. She is such an inspiration and the best mom I could ever ask for. I pray that Kaitlin and I will have a strong relationship like my mom and I.

8 Weeks.

Sweet baby girl.

Proud mommy!
Growing up so fast!

Maddie giving the baby kisses. She loves her little sister so much!

Kaitlin has grown so much! I can't believe it. She is certainly not a newborn anymore!!! She has developed her own little personality and it is so adorable. She smiles when she hears my voice and I love it. I read her books even though I know she doesn't understand...but it is good to stimulate her brain. I am having so much fun!

Time to start exercising again!

Amber bought me a new workout shirt and one for Kaitlin too! :)

I went to the Dr. this past Thursday and he told me everything was back to normal (or as normal as it will ever be). I am still a little sore from the surgery, but that is to be expected. He said it was Ok to start working out again, but not to over do it. I am taking advantage of the wonderful spring time weather. This is the best time to have a baby! Kaitlin and I have been walking after work by the river (right by my office). It works out perfectly because BJ goes and picks her up and brings her down to me and then either he walks with us or my friend Amber joins along. Eventually I might start jogging with her, but for the time being walking is just fine! I absolutely LOVE our jogging stroller and I'm so glad that is what I chose, after changing my mind a dozen times. The fresh air is good for me and the baby...its nice to get outside!

6 Weeks...back to work.

6 weeks went by WAY too fast. The first few weeks were such a blurr due to lack of sleep and pain killers. I technically should have stayed off work for a couple more weeks, but I was getting some pressure from my job to get back. So even though I physically (and certainly emotionally) was not ready, I went back. It was honestly the hardest thing I have ever done. I felt like I was sending her off to college. I cried and cried and cried.... But it is getting easier. I miss her so much, but it only makes the time I get to spend with her all the more special. We are lucky because we have family to watch her. I could not imagine her in day care at this young age or a stranger keeping her. Thankfully, our mom's are sharing the babysitting. And of course they are loving every minute of it! They might not feel the same when they have to start chasing her around!

Kaitlin is growing like a weed!!! I put her newborn clothes away around week 5 and it was so sad. But I am loving watching her grow into her own little person. At week 6 she really started smiling a lot and cooing. She loves taking baths and looking in the mirror. I am still breast-feeding which has become more difficult since going back to work, but I am going to keep doing it as long as I can. We supplement with formula while I'm at work and at first she HATED it, but has no problem now.
